Cancun Weather
Located in between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, Cancun boasts warm weather throughout the entire year. It is said that there are only 35 days a year when the temperature does not hit 80 degrees Farenheit. The weather rarely dips down below 70, even at night, so you be sure that when you are coming down to Cancun you will experience a true tropical paradise. And accordingly, the waters off the coast of Cancun are also warm throughout the year. Rarely do snorkelers and scuba divers have to use wet suits. This warm tropical temperature allows for the perfect beach, fun-in-the-sun getaway in the winter, summer, spring, or fall.
Cancun sees two rainy season: May through June and October through December. But do not let this scare you away: rainstorms in Cancun rarely last longer than 30 minutes. It is typical for it to be raining one minute and be perfectly bright and sunny some 15 or 20 minutes later. Another characteristic of the Cancun weather is that it can be quite sporadic and varied. It can be raining in the Hotel Zone but be completely sunny and dry over in Downtown Cancun. Oftentimes when you check the weather forecast and you see a forecast that says “30% chance of rain,” this typically means that rain is falling on only parts of the whole region of Cancun. Chances are low that it will actually be raining in your area. Always read the weather forecast with a grain of salt for it might not be as bad at seems.
More often than not, the weather in Cancun is ideal for outdoor activities. The waters are always warm and the winds are typically mild. Whether your plans for the day include shopping in the many outdoor malls and shopping centers, laying out by the pool and working on that tan, strolling down the long stretches of picturesque beaches, or heading out to sea for a snorkeling, diving, or fishing excursion, there is a great chance that the weather in Cancun will be perfect!
